This holiday season, our team at Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida joined forces with school staff across Orange County. Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and Orange County Public Schools helped ease the burden of hunger this holiday season by providing meals for 3,000 local families.
On December 13, student leaders, volunteers, and community members gathered at eight schools across Orange County to distribute fresh and nonperishable food during the 16th annual holiday food distribution. Employees from multiple departments at SHFB joined in to assist, supporting the incredible work led by school staff.
The schools where we had the honor of assisting include:
- Evans High School
- Apopka Elementary School
- Rock Lake Elementary School
- Maxey Elementary School
- Englewood Elementary School
- Lawton Chiles Elementary School
- Oak Ridge High School
- Ivy Lane Elementary School
From helping set up stations to organizing food boxes, our team helped bring nutritious meals directly to children and families experiencing hunger. These distributions are a reminder that when communities work together, we can make the holidays brighter for everyone.
We’re especially grateful to the dedicated school staff for leading these efforts and to all the Second Harvest employees who pitched in. Together, we helped ensure families had access to food, support, and holiday cheer.
